Rainy Days and Saturdays always bring me down.

Pewter and I have the same feelings about cold, wet February days.

Numbers

Okay... I'm going to try to explain this...

We have 10 fingers and we used those 10 fingers to invent the decimal system.

The T Rex dinosaur had 4 "fingers" If they had learned to count it could have been like this..

Last year a winter storm removed a few trees in Green Bay. A talented cottager carved this face in the trunk.

The Games We Play #319

One of our favourite winter games was Chinese Checkers. It was fun with 2 or 3 players but the board would always get jammed up with 5 or six players. Then there was the brother would would leave a marble behind...

Baby Seal

There was a stranger near the boardwalk at Rissers Beach. I guess this is my second sign of spring.

Sunny Kelp

It was a cloudy day on the beach. The sun started to peek through the clouds and I tried to get a picture of it reflected off the wet sand. I wantewd to frame it with the kelp.

Winter #363

A long long time ago this was a sign that winter was nearing its end. The harbour ice was no longer good for skating. We would find a pole and push ice cakes around.

So here I am, after 4 days of convalescing from the dreaded cold virus... wandering around the house with a tripod and a macro lens.

Jipzee

I don't know if it was Valentine's Day or maybe Jipzee was trying out a bit of reverse physcology but I found him to be a bit too cooperative and decided to give up photographing pets for awhile.

Pewter

Pewter turned out to be just plain hostile.

Roxie

I hardly ever chase Roxie with the camera so she was a bit concerned.

Kiwi

Kiwi loves to pose for the camera but today she wasn't interested in helping out the sneezing photographer.

Shack Wacky

There is nothing more pathetic than an old guy with a cold. After a few days of cradling a box of Kleenex I have decided that I will probably live through it. I am 5 days behind in posting my pictures. You will see that some of my subjects were less than enthusiastic about posing for me. I ended up taking closeups of a piece of tomato vine I found in the fridge.

The Lunenburg Academy was built in 1895 and is still an active School House with elementary classes on the first two floors.

Looking Down #177

I love the shapes and colours of the stones on the beach.
The round granite and the brown stone with the quatrz stripe caught my eye. Back at the computer I liked the look of the stones in black and white.

From the Sea #112

We went for a walk on Cherryhill Beach this morning. I found this tidal pool with a variety of seaweeds floating in it.

One Dozen #210

This fisherman on the LaHave River had just caught a dozen smelts. He must have had some time since his last catch and arranged his fish according to size. This part of the river is really a sunken river valley and is salt water. The tide was out and I slipped a couple times on the shore ice.

Old Mill

This old water powered mill in Crousetown Lunenburg County used to make oars for the fishing industry.

It's been snowing all day so I stayed inside and got out my favourite Baked Bean recipe.

I liked the way the ice in the harbour had been broken up. But the water looked very black and cold.

Architectural Details 13

During the Victorian Era, Lunenburg was a thriving town with many shipbuilders who applied their woodworking skills to their homes. Methinks this is one shipbuilder who went a bit overboard.
