My memory has faded along with the paint on this old barn . What do you call the piece of wood used to close the door?

    I'd call the thingie a latch. I'd call the photo exquisite. I love the detail and the weathered nature of the wood and paint.

    In French, we call this closing piece of wood "un taquet"...

    But I doubt it will be helpful to you to know that...
