Watch #352

There is nothing that matches the concentration of a Border collie watching a sheep or a tennis ball.

At the Feeder

I was hanging out at the bird feeder trying to get some pictures of a couple blue jays when this gawky teenager showed up.

Indian Pipe

This is Monotropa Uniflora. The latin name doesn't do anything for me. We call it Indian Pipe but I like the name Ghost Plant.

Hurricane Bill

We seem to have missed any serious damage from Hurricane Bill. I had intended to stand in the same places I had been when I had taken the photos on Friday and Saturday but that was impossible. The waves were incredible.
The top picture is Crescent Beach ..No Bathers today!
The second is Cherry Hill minus the surfers.
The third is overlooking Broadcove
We spoke to an Australian surfer who was watching the water with us and he said " We call that Death on a Stick, Mate.
The Bottom picture is Dublin Bay in front of our house. It doesn't look so soothing or mirror like today.

Calm before the Storm

Hurricane Bill will "brush" by us around noon on Sunday. On Friday morning Dublin Bay looks like a quiet lake.

Dory

This little dory looks great both in or out of the water. The worn oars hint that this boat gets exercised daily.

If I were a small insect....
With my love of sugar and sweets... It's no trouble figuring out my fate. This sundew seems to be offering a wonderful feast.

Hummer

A female ruby throated hummingbird; I find them very territorial and at times rude. There's really no need to be sticking out the tongue like that.

Busy as a Bee

I thought it was too wet to work in the garden today but I guess I should put the camera away and get at it.

Basket Case

Jipzee spent the morning hanging out in a basket.

Mobile

Theory: Deer are scared by moving objects and therefore mobiles will scare them away from flowers and vegetables.
Fact: Deer are attracted to mobiles and consider them as signs that the buffet is open.
